On the 156th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhiji, the Embassy of India in Paramaribo, and the Swami Vivekananda Culture Centre (SVCC), commemorated Gandhi Jayanti and UN International Day of Non-Violence at India House. This dual tribute underscored India’s national pride and the global reverence for Mahatma Gandhi. The program commenced with a morning yoga session led by SVCC yoga teacher followed by a short talk on the relevance of Gandhian philosophy in the contemporary world. The Guest of Honour, former Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly and Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awardee H.E. Dewanchandrebhose Sharman, along with National Assembly member H.E. Ameerani V. Jarbandhan, highlighted the relevance of Gandhian philosophy and the principles of truth and non-violence, women empowerment as well as his sustainable and harmonious approach towards environment
