The Embassy and Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre in Paramaribo marked the 150th anniversary of India’s National Song, Vande Mataram. Ambassador Subhash Gupta highlighted its role as a unifying force in India’s freedom movement. The event included a mass singing of Vande Mataram, lead by Ustad Ramkhelawan and his students, a sitar recital of Vande Matram by National Assembly Member H.E. Amirani Jarbandhan joined by a dholak artist, and a dance tribute by SVCC students. The celebration embodied unity, resilience, and devotion to Mother India.
