The Embassy of India in Paramaribo observed the 59th Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Day on 30th March 2024 at Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center (SVCC), Paramaribo.
- The programme began with a lighting of the traditional lamp. Ambassador Dr.Shankar Balachandran welcomed the audience.
- H. E. Ambassador Albert Ramdin, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Business and International Cooperation was the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, he appreciated the uniqueness of the Indian development partnership model, which takes into account the priorities and needs of the receiving state. He said despite challenges from within, India always shared her resources in the true spirit of the world as one family. He appealed to the ITEC alumni to apply the skills learnt for Suriname's development.
- Amb Ms. Joan Ilahi, Project Adviser, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Lalita Adhin, Policy Adviser, Directorate of Culture, Senior Officers, ITEC/ICCR alumni and KIP participants attended the event.
- Two ITEC Alumni Ms. Merredith Koffie and Ms. Sushma Biere, one KIP participant Mr. Ashish Pershad shared their experiences of visiting India and how they benefitted from the programmes.
- A video containing the message of the Indian Prime Minister and a documentary on ITEC was screened.
- Second Secretary Mr. S. Ramji gave a vote of thanks.
- Nearly 150 guests attended the event. A few photographs of the event are enclosed.
