On 7 November 2024, Embassy organised a DVC with Dr. The Most Honourable Jerome Walcott, Minister of Health and Wellness of Barbados. High Commissioner designate highlighted the potential healthcare collaborations with India. The discussion covered a wide array of subjects, including collaboration and partnership in the pharmaceutical industry, acceptance of Indian Pharmacopeia, replication of affordable medicine schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana in the partner country through agreement, and the trade of medical machinery to improve healthcare infrastructure. Key points also included addressing labor migration and healthcare worker support, the use of mobile hospitals like the BHISHM Cube for remote areas, access to diabetes and hemodialysis machines, sharing of technology in cancer treatment and radiotherapy, and the potential for sea ambulance services to improve emergency response in island nation.
