Renunciation of OCI
If any Overseas Citizen of India of full age and capacity makes, in the prescribed manner, a declaration renouncing his or her Overseas Citizenship of India, the declaration shall be registered by the Central Government and, upon such registration, that person shall cease to be an Overseas Citizen of India.
Where a person ceases to be an Overseas Citizen of India under Section 7C(1) of the Citizenship Act, 1955, every minor child of that person who is registered as an OCI Cardholder shall also cease to be an OCI Cardholder.
Applications for renunciation of OCI shall be submitted online through the OCI Services Portal in Form XXXI. Upon receipt of the declaration, an electronic acknowledgment in Form XXXII will be issued by the competent authority. Where the applicant holds a physical OCI Card, the original card shall also be surrendered to the concerned authority.
