India-UNDP grant projects -local energy industry value chain

Under a grant of US$1 million, India has supported Barbados in developing its local energy industry value chain at the cost of USD 550,000. The 20-month project, implemented by the Commonwealth Secretariat, aimed to create new jobs and improve the livelihoods of Barbadians by enhancing the market access and competitiveness of local businesses in the energy sector. Despite a year-long delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the project successfully achieved its objectives, resulting in the creation of new jobs and increased market access for local businesses.

Covid-19 response - supply of essential healthcare equipment

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, India provided critical support to Barbados' healthcare sector. A project funded by the India-UNDP Fund allocated US$675,000 to procure essential medical equipment, including ventilators and ICU beds. The project has been instrumental in strengthening Barbados' capacity to respond to public health emergencies and improve access to quality healthcare services. The 107 medical equipment procured under this partnership have significantly enhanced the capabilities of 13 hospitals and medical institutions in Barbados, providing them with modern healthcare facilities and enhancing their capabilities.

Micro, Small Enterprises (MSE) project - Coconut processing plant

This project is part of a USD 1 million grant announced by Hon'ble EAM, Dr. S. Jaishankar, at the India-COFCOR Georgetown meet in 2023. Under this grant project, India would supply agro-processing machinery and help in setting up the processing facility. The project has advanced with formalization of Memoradum of Understanding for this project on 30 July 2025.

100,000 doses of vaccine

India has also provided significant humanitarian assistance to Barbados. During the COVID-19 pandemic, India donated life-saving drugs and protective gear worth US$100,000. Additionally, India donated 100,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
