Dr. Riad Nurmohamed participated in the inauguration of the Automatic Weather Station in Kwamalasamutu (Sipaliwini) on 13 December 2024. The UN and UNDP representative also accompanied. This initiative is part of the India-UN Development Partnership Fund grant project, "Enhanced Early Warning Service Delivery to Communities of Suriname to Build Resilience to Flooding from Excess Rainfall." During the event, Mr. Jimmy Toeroemang, Chief of the Trio Tribe, expressed gratitude on behalf of the community, noting that the project will greatly assist in preparing for potential flooding events and weather related preparations.
