Boosting Capacity and Strengthening Food Security in the Caribbean! On 10 July 2026, High Commissioner of India, H.E. Subhash P. Gupta officially handed over the new leaf vegetable and Root Crop Processing and Packaging Facility to the Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. The commemorative plaque was jointly unveiled alongside Hon. Israel Bruce, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Rural Transformation. Key Highlights of the Project: US$1 Million Investment: Inspired by the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for inclusive and holistic development, announced by Hon'ble External Affairs Minister of India, Dr. S. Jaishankar during the India–COFCOR Ministerial Meeting in 2023, under India’s SEEDS Initiative. Upgraded Facilities: Upgrades agro-processing hubs at Langley Park, La Croix, and Lauders. Massive Capacity: Built to process and package at least 45,000 lbs of fresh fruits, vegetables, and root crops every single day. Expert Execution: Machinery was supplied by the Government of India, with NABCONS overseeing installation and commissioning. The ceremony was also graced by Hon. Shevern John, Minister of Social Welfare and Community Empowerment, Disaster Management, and national heritage, besides senior government officials and farmers. This milestone underscores India’s unwavering commitment to agricultural value addition, food security, and sustainable development alongside our partners in the Caribbean.
