On 22 March 2026 the occasion of Bihar Day, the 2nd edition of India Means Business was organized in a hybrid format, focusing on the Suriname-Bihar Business Interaction Forum. A detailed presentation on Bihar’s business prospects and investment opportunities was delivered by the Bihar Industry Association. The Managing Director of Bihar Tourism, Mr. Nand Kishor, invited the audience and tour operators to visit Bihar, highlighting the state’s key tourist destinations. The event was followed by captivating cultural performances, including a soulful Chhath musical play, Jhijhiya dance, Chaita, and the Bhagwati greeting of Mithila.The programme concluded with the serving of representative Bihari cuisines such as Litti-Chokha, Ghughni-Chiura, Khaja, Fullori, and more.

On 18 March, under the India-UN SDG Fund, the Ambassador handed over computers and other equipment to St. Vincentius Hospital, ‘s Lands Hospital, Medical Mission, RGD, BOG/Family & Community Health, Diakonessenhuis, MMC, the HIV Programme (PMTCT Component), and the Academic Hospital at PAHO headquarters in Paramaribo.This donation will strengthen surveillance, data management, and reporting for the elimination of Mother-to-Child Transmission (EMTCT-Plus) of HIV, Syphilis, and Hepatitis B in Suriname.

On 04 March 2026, Embassy of India, in collaboration with the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC), joyfully celebrated the vibrant Holi Phagwa Festival at Bharat Bhawan. The event came alive with traditional music (Chowtal and Baithak Gaana), soulful songs, energetic dance performances, and the colorful tradition of gulal throwing, bringing together diverse communities in a true spirit of harmony. The event was organized as a part of the Promotion of Cultural Ties with Diaspora coinciding with a yearlong celebration marking the golden jubilee of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between India and Suriname. The celebration was honored by the presence of H.E. Lalinie Gopal, President’s representative, and ministers, members of the Suriname National Assembly, the diplomatic corps, cultural associations, diaspora organizations, artists, and the friends of India also joined the festivities.In his address, Ambassador H.E. Subhash Gupta highlighted the cultural significance of Holi Phagwa in India’s agrarian tradition and its deep-rooted place in Suriname’s cultural fabric.
